The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has 4 undergraduate majors: Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation, Welding Technology and Engineering, Material Forming and Control Engineering, and Robot Engineering. The Mechanical Engineering discipline was selected as the “dominant characteristic discipline (B level)” of the characteristic high-level discipline of Jilin Province. The major of Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation and welding technology and engineering are the first-class professional construction points in Jilin Province, the pilot major of the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training plan” of the Ministry of education, and have passed the engineering education accreditation of the Ministry of Education in China.
The School has 7 internal institutions, including the Teaching Department of Mechanical Foundation, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Materials and Welding, the Department of Robot Engineering, the Advanced Manufacturing Experimental Teaching Center, the Experimental Teaching Center of Mechanical Foundation and the Innovation and Practice Center for college students. The total value of experimental instruments and equipment amounts to nearly 68 million RMB. There are 3 provincial engineering research centers and high-end equipment intelligent manufacturing technology innovation center, including Automobile Integrated Manufacturing Technology Jilin University Engineering Research Center, Automobile Parts Manufacturing Online Testing Industry Public Technology R & D Center and Automobile Parts Testing.
The School has 971 full-time undergraduates and 56 faculty members, including 6 Professors and 23 Associate Professors. 20 teachers have Ph.D, accounting for 37.74% of the faculty .
In the past three years, the School has organized students of all majors to participate in various discipline competitions at all levels, and won 47 national and provincial undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship training programs. In the past three years, it has won 546 national and provincial undergraduate discipline competitions; In the past three years, it has won 7 gold awards, 16 silver awards and 13 bronze awards in the “Internet+” College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Jilin Province.
In recent years, the main employment units for students are: China Power Construction, China CNR Group, China Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Bureau, China Construction Engineering Bureau, Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Ltd..
The School has established a stable international cooperation and exchange relationship with the University of West of Scotland in the UK, and has carried out a series of international exchange and cooperation projects. In recent years, the number of graduates studying in the U.K has been increasing, broadening their international vision .
