About CIT


Founded in 1951, Changchun Institute of Technology (CIT) is an accredited multi-disciplinary college with engineering as its core. CIT is affiliated with the People’s Government of Jilin Province.


CIT was formerly known as Changchun Architectural Advanced Vocational School, Changchun Technology Advanced Vocational School, and Changchun Water Conservancy & Electric Power College. For nearly 50 years these three schools were associated with the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, the Metallurgical Industrial Ministry, and the Water Conservancy Ministry. At the beginning of 2000–with the approval of the Ministry of Education–the three colleges merged to form Changchun Institute of Technology.


In the past 20 years, CIT has been awarded the following important honors: A Characteristic High-level Application-oriented University of Jilin Province (Level A); The Co-construction University by the Peoples Government of Jilin Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management of the Peoples Republic of China; A university implemented by the Ministry of Educations Outstanding Engineers Education Training Plan; A pilot college for Talents Cultivation Project of Serving the Special Needs of the Country to enroll postgraduates; A pilot university for CDIO Engineering Education Reform; The New Engineering comprehensive reform project implementation college; TheEU Erasmus+Inspire ProjectInternationalization of master programimplementation college; The Demonstrational College for Transitional Development of Jilin Province.


CIT mainly focuses on undergraduate programs, but also offers postgraduate and higher vocational programs. At present, CIT covers 5 disciplines categories including Engineering, Management, Science, Art and Literature; 2 masters degree program in Energy&Power, and Civil Engineering&Hydraulic Engineering; 6 provincial characteristic high-level disciplines. There are 23 teaching schools (departments) with 49 undergraduate enrollment majors. CIT is equipped with 9 national first-class undergraduate construction sites (Electrical Engineering and Automation, Civil Engineering, Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Geological Engineering, Engineering Cost) and 19 provincial first-class undergraduate construction sites; 1 national pilot major of comprehensive reform of local colleges; 13 majors that have passed the accreditation for the national engineering education (Electrical Engineering and Automation, Civil Engineering, Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation, Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering, Engineering Management, Electronic Information Engineering, Automation, Resource Exploration Engineering); 7 national and provincial Outstanding Engineers Education Training Planimplementation majors; 2 national CDIO pilot majors; 8 provincial characteristic high-level majors; 5 provincial brand majors and 7 provincial innovation experimental zones for talents cultivation. CIT has a total enrollment of 16,000 full-time students.


There are more than 1,300 faculty members in CIT, 570 with senior titles. More than 60 teachers have been employed as doctoral and master tutors by relevant scientific research institutions and universities.


CIT’s two campuses cover a total area of 450,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 1.197 billion yuan, including 438 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment. The library has 1,909,100 Chinese and foreign paper books and 3,108,000 e-books.


CIT has carried out 4 Sino-Foreign Joint Undergraduate Programs with 3 universities including University of the West of Scotland in the UK, Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI) in Russia, and New Mexico State University in the United States. CIT is also proud to have promoted international exchange and cooperation with more than 30 institutions of higher education, including Russian Kazan State Technical University, University of L'Aquila, Universite de Technologie de Belfort-Montbeliard, Jade Hochschule, Yonam Institute of Technology, Komsomolsk-on-Amur State Technical University, Chaoyang University of Technology, the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, Musashi Urawa Japanese Language Institute, University of Kassel, Krirk University, Cambodian University for Specialties, Charted Institute of Technology and Soongsil University, focusing on further academic excellence, mutual exchange of guest lecturers, as well as student exchange. As a coordinating university in China, CIT participated in the EU Programme Erasmus+, cooperating with 10 universities in France, Italy, Germany, and Russia.
