The School of Electrical and Information Engineering originated from the Electric Power Major of Changchun Water Conservancy and Power Generation Engineering School approved by the Ministry of Fuel Industry of the Central People’s Government in 1953. At present, there are 1 distinguished professor and 80 full-time teachers, including 14 professors, accounting for 17.5%, 33 Associate Professors, accounting for 41.3%, and 27 intermediate titles, accounting for 33.8%. The teaching team of Electrical Engineering and Automation and the team of Automation are honored as excellent teaching teams in Jilin Province.
The School has four undergraduate majors— Electrical Engineering and Automation, Automation, Electronic Information Engineering, and Smart Grid Information Engineering. The Electrical Engineering and Automation Major is a national first-class specialty construction site, and has passed the accreditation of engineering education. The engineering education certification of automation major and Electronic Information Engineering Major has gone through the examination of the experts. Electronic Information Engineering Major is the first-class specialty construction site in Jilin Province, and has been rated as excellent (among the top 20%) in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in colleges and universities in Jilin Province.
The School has first-class disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, and Electrical Engineering is a high-level characteristic discipline in Jilin Province. It has established scientific research platforms such as the National Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Intelligent Distribution Network Measurement and Control and Safe Operation Technology, Jilin Distribution Automation Engineering Research Center and Jilin Distribution Automation Equipment Industry Public Technology Research and Development Center, focusing on scientific research and social services in the fields of distribution network monitoring and condition assessment, power electronics and energy efficient utilization, wind power generation and smart microgrid, distribution network online monitoring and fault diagnosis, power Internet of Things and big data. In the past five years, 66 scientific research projects have been approved, including 24 at the provincial and ministerial levels, with a scientific research fund of 15.1 million yuan, and 3 second-class awards and 4 third-class awards for provincial scientific and technological progress.
The School actively carries out foreign exchanges, and cooperates with New Mexico State University to jointly operate the Undergraduate Education Program in Electrical Engineering and Automation, and participated in the EU Erasmus+ Inspire Project and jointly cultivate master’s degree students majoring in Electrical Engineering with 8 European colleges and universities.
