The three members’ delegation of University of the West of Scotland (UWS) led by Vice Principal Marcus Ross visited CIT recently. President Song Lijun met with the delegation and attended the promotion meeting for Sino-British joint educational programs.
At the meeting, President Song Lijun warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation on behalf of CIT, and expressed congratulations on successfully renewing a round of cooperative education agreement between the two universities not long ago. President Song Lijun summarized the fruitful achievements of the 15 year cooperation between the two universities, highly affirmed the strong support given by UWS in promoting CIT's educational internationalization process, faculty development, and student academic growth, and introduced the school's institutional adjustments, cooperative running programs, and the changes in the functions of related departments after the return of students to their professional colleges, as well as the subsequent follow-up coordination matters between the two universities' related work. He hopes to introduce the resources of the UWS in computer science and other superior disciplines through cooperative educational projects, promote the integration of advanced teaching and research achievements such as big data, unmanned aerial vehicle and artificial intelligence with traditional majors, encourage the integration and construction of teaching staff, standardize project management, improve teaching quality, and cultivate more international professional talents that meet social needs.
Vice Principal Marcus Ross expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at CIT. He pointed out that UWS attaches great importance to cooperation and exchange with CIT, and the formal signing of the new cooperation agreement marks a new level of cooperation between the two schools, which has important historical significance. He hopes that the two schools will take this opportunity to further expand the scope of cooperation, establish multi-level cooperation mechanisms, promote deeper and higher levels of cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Prof. Su Xiaoping, Division Chief of the Division of International Relations, reported to UWS on the recent cooperative education project, including student training, payment of education service fees, teaching operation and quality supervision and assurance, teacher-student exchanges between the two schools, as well as the scholarship program for project students to study at UWS on behalf of CIT.
The two sides had in-depth discussions and exchanges on the high-quality development of the joint education and training program, improvement of the talent cultivation plan, enhancement of Chinese teacher training methods, exploration of the integration of artificial intelligence with traditional majors, strengthening the scientific research cooperation between the two schools' teachers, and jointly training master's and doctoral students. Consensus was reached on optimizing curriculum design, increasing the import of courses, and increasing the teaching hours of lectures given by British teachers.This visit is a follow-up to CIT delegation's visit to UWS in September.
