From August 21 to 23, 2023, Sun Weina, vice president of scientific research of the School of Foreign Languages, led a team of three doctoral and scientific research backbone teachers to Hunchun port in Jilin Province to carry out a three-day research activity. By understanding the operating status and needs of national foreign trade companies, cross-border e-commerce and cross-border logistics companies under the economic background of port cities represented by Hunchun City in Jilin Province, the College will give full play to its advantages in teaching and research, create multi-language service for scientific research and local economy, explore and cultivate scientific research projects, and play a promoting role in the development of foreign trade enterprises in Jilin Province.
The research team went to Hunchun to visit Dingyang Trading Co., Ltd. and its subordinate Di Gou E-commerce Co., Ltd. and ErShuntong Logistics Co., LTD., visited China Hunchun Cross-border e-commerce Construction Management Center and land port cargo transit Center, conducted in-depth exchanges with company managers and staff, and discussed the possibility of university-enterprise cooperation and scientific research cooperation, to study the cooperative ways to help the cultivation of applied talents and serve the development of local economy.
We investigated and understood the basic situation of local cross-border foreign trade enterprises, the main projects and achievements of enterprise development, the main problems arising in the process of project construction and the needs of enterprises. In the forum with the leaders of Dingyang Trading Co., LTD. and Digou Mall, Sun Weina, vice president of scientific research of the School of Foreign Languages, introduced the school's scientific research capacity, research team construction and the school's scientific research talent reserve, conducted a survey on the training of language services and translation talents, and expressed the willingness of school-enterprise cooperation and common development; Wang Rusong, general manager of Hunchun Dingyang Trading Co., LTD., introduced the opportunities and challenges encountered by Hunchun Port in the implementation of the national "Belt and Road" initiative, and believed that CIT, as a new type of applied university, pays attention to the needs of enterprises and goes ahead of other colleges and universities in the province, making local enterprises feel the temperature of colleges and universities actively serving enterprises. Mr. Zhang Kechang, general manager of DJD (DG) Mall, introduced the development prospects and status of cross-border e-commerce. We had an in-depth discussion on the problems arising in the process of enterprise development and the demand for language service talents under the background of port economic development, exchanged views on the future special training of school-enterprise talents interaction, school-enterprise information exchange and multi-language language service talents training, and also exchanged views on the training of applied foreign language talents, Industry-University-Research cooperation, students’ production internship and employment, and initially reached the intention of establishing a School-enterprise cooperation innovation creative research base for border trade multilingual language service in Jilin Province.
