2026/08/21

From August 17 to 19, the VEX U Special Competition of the 2026 9th China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition concluded in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province. After three days of intense competition, the VEX U team from CIT's School of Computer Technology and Engineering, guided by instructor Yi Yanji, won the championship in the Skills Challenge and the runner-up title in the Head-to-Head Challenge.

The VEX U Special Competition is one of the events of the VEX Robotics World Championship, the largest robotics competition in the world. Integrating multiple engineering disciplines including artificial intelligence, robot vision, information and communication, and mechanical design, the event provides a high-level platform for young engineers worldwide to compete and exchange ideas, and has achieved remarkable results in cultivating talents in technological innovation and engineering practice. The competition was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition and undertaken by Ningbo University of Technology and the Robotics Institute of Zhejiang University. Themed “Faster, Better, Stronger,” the event takes cultivating students’ability to raise questions as its starting point, forming an integrated talent cultivation chain encompassing question formulation, solution design, technological innovation, and subsequent incubation, thereby supporting the training of robotics-related professionals.

These achievements reflect the notable effectiveness of CIT's practice-oriented education mechanism of “promoting teaching, learning, and innovation through competition.” They showcase the university's foundation in innovation education and the quality of its innovative talent cultivation, as it continues to empower the development of applied talents who are “capable in regional development, adequately grounded in theory, readily employable on the engineering frontline, and adaptable to industry needs.“
