President Jin Guangyong presented an overview of CIT’s history, disciplinary strengths, research platform development, and talent cultivation outcomes. He noted that marine energy, as an important source of clean and renewable energy, represents a key direction for energy transition and security. He called on all parties to focus on national strategic needs, stay at the forefront of marine energy power generation technology, pool strengths to tackle core technological challenges, deepen resource sharing, complementary advantages, and talent exchanges, and promote deep integration of research, teaching, and industry to precisely support the high-quality development of the local new energy sector.

Vice President Shi Ying and Vice President Meng Xiangping delivered remarks respectively, extending their congratulations on the launch of the National Key R&D Program project. They stated that their universities would fully leverage disciplinary and research strengths in electrical engineering, new energy equipment, building energy efficiency, and related fields, participate deeply in research breakthroughs, strengthen cross-university collaboration, and jointly advance technological innovation and achievement transformation in marine energy power generation.

Following the meeting, Professor Liu Wenzhou of CIT delivered a report titled “Research on a MW-Class Direct-Drive Horizontal-Axis Tidal Current Turbine Unit with Dual Rotors”, systematically presenting the project’s research background, overall objectives, key technologies, research tasks, and expected outcomes. Professor Cai Wei of Harbin University of Science and Technology delivered a report entitled “Marine Energy Power Generation System Based on an Axial-Flux Dual-Rotor Motor”, sharing frontier research progress and technical application directions in marine energy power generation systems.

The meeting established a marine energy research and innovation platform that fosters inter-university collaboration and international engagement, integrating the disciplinary talent and research resources of the three universities. Through this project, all parties will continue to deepen research on marine energy power generation technology, focus on tackling key technical challenges in the industry, cultivate high-level research outcomes, support the upgrading of China's marine energy and new energy industries, and contribute university expertise and research strength to the green and low-carbon energy transition in Jilin Province and across the country.
