On June 6, the 2026 “Borun Cup” Jilin Province Architectural Competition for Urban and Rural Renewal concluded at Jilin Jianzhu University. The entry “Spring City Wooden Lodge,” created by student Zhang Xiaofei and advised by CIT faculty members Ma Zitong and Cui Yu, was awarded first prize. Another CIT entry, “Huancui Pavilion,” designed by student Hao Chenxi under the guidance of instructors Ding Pinwen and Jin Songtao, was rewarded second prize.
Themed “Towards Urban and Rural Renewal”, the competition was designed to examine how architectural practice can revitalize underutilized spaces and sustain regional cultural identity through “micro-intervention” and “light construction” strategies in the context of the stock-age urban environment. The event drew 416 participants from universities with architecture-related programs across Jilin Province, who formed 54 competing teams.
This achievement serves as a compelling demonstration of CIT’s educational effectiveness. CIT will continue to deepen its professional expertise and contribute to urban and rural development in Jilin Province by nurturing more high-quality applied talents.
