From July 18th to 20th, the VEX U Special Event of the 8th China College Students Intelligent Robot Creativity Competition, together with Huazhong University of Science and Technology’s “Mingde Qizhi Cup”Intelligent Robot Invitational Tournament, was held at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. After three days of intense competition, CIT’s VEX U team finally won the runner-up in the match competition, the third place in the skills competition,and the Innovation Award.
VEX U is one of the events of the world’s largest VEX Robotics World Championship. This competition was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the China College Students Intelligent Robot Creativity Competition and undertaken by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, with the theme of “Faster, Better, Stronger”. Starting with cultivating students’ ability to raise questions, it has built an integrated talent training chain covering problem raising, solution provision, technological innovation, and later-stage incubation, playing a significant role in boosting the cultivation of robot-related talents.
This award fully demonstrates the remarkable results of CIT’s practical education mechanism of “promoting teaching, learning and innovation through competitions”. It also shows CIT’s achievements in improving the quality of innovative talent cultivation and accumulating the foundation of innovative education, and highlights the continuous empowering role of innovative education in fostering applied talents who are “usable for regional construction, adequate in theoretical foundation, practical for front-line engineering, and applicable for industry development”.
