From October 25 to 30, the final of the 16th National College Student Structural Design Competition was held in Changsha University of Science and Technology. The CIT team, composed of Ni Hongguang and Wen Yong as instructors and students Xu Jiaxin, Cao Zhengtong and Wen Huabing as members, won the first prize again with a stable and excellent performance, with the model's self-weight of 143 grams, bearing the first-level moving load of 10 kg, the second and third-level moving load of 24 kg and resistance to the full load of impact load. The other team, led by Zhu Kun and Ni Hongguang as instructors and students Zhou Yuhao, Liu Jiangtao and Cen Yuanwang, won the third prize. CIT is the only university that won the first prize among the participating universities in Jilin Province.
This competition attracted 1,465 teams from 581 universities and colleges in 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country to compete for the regional competition, and 119 teams from 118 universities and colleges such as Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tongji University entered the national finals to compete for the first, second and third prizes. The participating team of CIT overcame the adverse effects of climate humidity change on material properties, calm and steady, and once again stood on the highest podium in the national competition.
Inspired by a ship collision incident on a bridge pier, this competition takes the bridge structure bearing moving load and impact load as the research object. By adding some undetermined parameters, it increases the on-site design link and gives the competition more flexibility. During the preparation period in recent months, the participating teachers and students of our school gave up long vacations and weekends, and stayed in the laboratory for a long time, repeatedly carrying out design calculations, simulation optimization and elaborate production under multiple working conditions, strengthening confidence and making clear goals to meet the finals.
The National College Student Structural Design Competition is one of the nine national discipline competitions jointly approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and it is one of the comprehensive discipline competitions with the highest level and the greatest influence in the field of civil engineering. This competition can further promote the reform of practical education and teaching in colleges and universities, so as to cultivate the spirit of "creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and creation" and the ability of teamwork and engineering innovation design of college students, and further improve the quality of practical education and teaching and innovative talent training in colleges and universities.
