On May 22, Dr. Lucy Meredith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West of Scotland, led a delegation to visit CIT. President Chen Quan met with the delegation on behalf of the University.
In the morning, the two universities held a working meeting on cooperation and exchange. Mr. Chaoyong Wang, Vice-Chancellor of CIT, Dr Lucy Meredith, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UWS, Professor Gordon Morrison, Dean of CEPS, of UWS, Prof. David Enzi, Head of Computing of UWS, and Ms. Guo Chao, CPD and training Manager of UWS attended the meeting. The two sides discussed the cooperation in civil engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, and the cooperation between the two universities in the field of computer science. Mr. Yuxi Zhao, Director of CIT International Cooperation and Exchange hosted the meeting.
At the meeting, Vice President Wang Chaoyong, on behalf of CIT, extended a warm welcome to the UWS delegation. He gave a brief introduction to the general situation of CIT and expressed his sincere thanks to UWS for its strong support to the joint programme between the two universities. He expressed the will of CIT to continually strengthen communication with UWS on the teaching quality and the construction of teaching staff of the program, to explore the high-quality sustainable development of the project and jointly promote the prosperity of international education in both sides.
Dr Lucy Meredith, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UWS, gave a brief overview of UWS. She expressed her gratitude to colleagues who have worked hard on the joint program between the two universities over the years. She said that the cooperation between the two universities will usher in a new chapter with the full liberalization of epidemic prevention and control, hoping to take this opportunity to further deepen and develop the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.
At the meeting, Mr. Zhao Yuxi, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, comprehensively reviewed the cooperation history and main achievements of cooperation between the two universities. Subsequently, the School of Computer, Engineering and Physical Sciences of UWS and the School of Computer Technology and Engineering of CIT exchanged views on their respective research fields and cooperation intentions. After the meeting, the two sides will continue to discuss specific cooperation issues to further promote the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities in the field of computer science.
In the afternoon, the delegation of UWS, School of Civil Engineering and School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of CIT held a symposium. The two sides made a brief introduction of their respective teaching and scientific research, and had extensive exchanges on academic research cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation visited the Physical Simulation and Safety Technology Innovation Center of Jilin Hydraulic and Electric Engineering, the Structure Laboratory of College of Civil Engineering, the History Hall and the English Learning Center jointly built by the two universities.
