Master Chen Peiju, the 20th generation descendent of the Chen family from Chenjiagou, the 12th inheritor of Chen-style Tai Chi, and also a representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage project in Henan Province, delivered an academic lecture entitled "The Cultural Significance of Uprightness and Its Application in Tai Chi" at the invitation of Teaching and Research Department of Sports in Auditorium 126, Huxi Campus on January 2, 2025. Off-campus Tai Chi enthusiasts, members of our institute’s Tai Chi Association, and representatives of graduate students who love Tai Chi culture attended this lecture.

Vice President Zhang Bangcheng delivered a speech emphasizing that Tai Chi, as treasure of traditional Chinese culture, not only embodies profound philosophical thoughts but also serves as an excellent method for physical fitness and self-cultivation. He expressed his hope that all participants, under the guidance of Master Chen Peiju, would deeply appreciate the charm of Tai Chi and integrate its spirit into their study, work, and daily life.

Before the event commenced, Professor Liu Hongmei, a student of Master Chen Peiju and a physical education teacher herself at our institute, led members of the Tai Chi Association in a wonderful Tai Chi performance.

Master Chen Peiju provided a systematic and comprehensive illustration of how fundamental uprightness is to personal cultivation in traditional Chinese culture. She emphasized that this principle is also crucial for maintaining dynamic balance, stability, and flexibility in Tai Chi practice. Her precise and logically structured lecture enabled every participant to accurately grasp and experience the essence and charm of Tai Chi.
