Seminar of UWS Civil Engineering Experts Successfully Held

2024/10/28

On October 22, 2024, a seminar focusing on "the application of nanoindentation technology in building materials research" was successfully held jointly by the School of Civil Engineering and the School of Hydraulic Engineering. Professor Zhu Wenzhong, a well-known civil engineering expert and doctoral supervisor from the University of the West of Scotland was invited as the keynote speaker , and attracted active participation from numerous scholars, teachers, and graduate students in related fields. The seminar began at 14:00 in the afternoon and the auditorium was packed, with a strong academic atmosphere. Professor Zhu Wenzhong, with his profound academic background and rich practical experience, presented a splendid academic feast for the participants.

In the report, Professor Zhu first introduced the basic principles and development history of nanoindentation technology, and then elaborated on the latest application results of the technology in the study of building materials. He demonstrated the huge potential of nanoindentation technology in studying the properties of building materials, optimizing material structures, and driving innovative development of building materials through a series of rich scientific cases and detailed data. At the same time, Professor Zhu looked ahead to the future trends of nanoindentation technology in the field of building materials and provided valuable academic insights and research directions for the participants.

During the report, the participants responded enthusiastically and communicated with Professor Zhu about the topics that interested them. Professor Zhu answered their questions patiently and engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with the participants. His rigorous scholarly attitude, profound academic foundation, and humble demeanor won the unanimous praise and respect of the participants.

This seminar not only provided a platform for participants to learn about the latest research and testing methods for building materials, but also promoted exchanges and cooperation among participants with different academic backgrounds and research fields. Participants expressed that they not only broadened their academic horizons but also stimulated their innovative thinking and research enthusiasm through the symposium. The School of Civil Engineering and the School of Hydraulic Engineering express their heartfelt thanks to Professor Zhu Wenzhong for his wonderful report and hope to continue strengthening exchanges and cooperation with internationally renowned scholars in the future to jointly promote the development and progress of civil engineering and hydraulic engineering disciplines.
