In order to further conduct the application for the National Natural Science Foundation (NNSF) Program in 2023, stimulate the passions of teachers and students for scientific research, and improve the application quality, the Exchange of Application for the NNSF Program was held by the School of Civil Engineering on the morning of December 10th. Prof. Jinjie Men from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology was invited as the keynote speaker, and the exchange was presided over by Dr. Tan Wang, Deputy Dean of the School of Civil Engineering, CIT. The exchange was held online, with more than 130 key scientific research teachers, graduate students and undergraduates from various schools participating.
Online Exchange
At the beginning of the exchange, Prof. Men shared his experience of application, and pointed out that there were gains and temporary setbacks in the process of application. He added that once we have the confidence and determination to strive for excellence, we will certainly be rewarded; Later, he introduced the application policy of the program, and pointed out that we should actively respond to the guidelines and meet the national needs, development planning and discipline development frontier; Then, he disentangled the key points of the project application from the perspectives of the applicants and the evaluation experts, including both professional analysis and reasonable suggestions. At the same time, in view of the importance of the topic, he sent a message to the young researchers and graduate students: “Good topics will not be generated without a deep understanding of the discipline. While reading plenty of literature and learning knowledge, remember to think and innovate.” After sharing, Prof. Men handled the queries encountered by the teachers. A teacher who also graduated from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology shared her memories of her old school with Prof. Men in a lively atmosphere.
