The International Cooperation Base for Regional Water Resources Science and Water Engineering Safety was approved for construction by the Department of Science and Technology of Jilin Province in 2014. During its development, the base has consistently focused on expanding openness, strengthening academic collaboration and exchanges both domestically and internationally, and striving to establish a well-managed and standardized operational framework.
The base currently has 20 full-time researchers, including 6 full professors, 8 associate professors, and 19 PhD holders. It trains approximately 25 graduate students annually. An academic committee composed of domestic and international experts has been established to evaluate and advise on international scientific cooperation, major international research projects, and related initiatives. The laboratory covers an area of 3,200m², with equipment valued at over 20 million RMB, enabling it to undertake research and production tasks such as hydraulic engineering model testing, material experiments, numerical simulations, health diagnostics and safety assessments, water and soil resource monitoring, and water pollution prevention and control.
Over the past three years, the base has undertaken more than 80 national and provincial-level research projects, with total funding exceeding 12.8 million RMB. It has published over 60 research papers, including more than 20 indexed in SCI and EI, and has won one second-class and two third-class provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological progress.
The base primarily addresses scientific and practical challenges in hydraulic structures in cold regions, agricultural informatization, efficient utilization of water and soil resources, and ecological environment construction, forming three key research directions:
1. Ecological Protection and Disaster Prevention Technologies for Hydraulic Engineering in Cold Regions;
2. Theory and Application Technologies for Efficient Utilization of Water and Soil Resources in Cold Regions;
3. Agricultural Informatization and Application Technologies in Cold and Arid Regions.
