The School of Architecture currently has two undergraduate majors: Architecture and Urban and Rural Planning; In 2012, the School began to enroll master candidates in Architecture and Civil Engineering (Architectural Design and its theoretical direction); At present, there are more than 450 full-time undergraduate students. The School has 5 teaching institutions, including the Department of Architecture, the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, the Experimental Teaching Center, the College Students’ Innovation and Practice Center, and the BIM Teaching Department. The School of Architecture has 43 teachers, including 5 Professors, 1 Second Grade Professor and 13 Associate Professors.
The major of architecture was selected as Characteristic Advanced Major (Level A) in Jilin Province and a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major and is listed as a key construction discipline at the school level. The course of Architectural Design was selected as the First-class Undergraduate Course in Jilin Province, and the course team of Architectural Design was selected as the Provincial Excellent Teaching Team. The School regularly holds “Construction Festival” and conducts course design, forming a characteristic multi-level teaching system. In 2022, the major of architecture ranked first in the First-class major ranking (application-oriented) among the Colleges and Universities in Jilin Province supported by Chinese Universities Alumni Association.
Based on the characteristics of cold regions, the School actively carries out scientific research and social service activities. In the past three years, the School has undertaken more than 30 scientific and technological projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, department and bureau levels, and enterprise scientific and technological research, and has received a total of more than 6 million RMB of research funds; The School has published more than 50 papers and obtained more than 20 national authorized patents. The School is an advanced scientific research collective of CIT and the President Unit of the Prefabricated Architecture Branch of Civil Architecture Association in Jilin Province.
The School has actively carried out scientific and technological innovation activities for undergraduates. In recent years, it has won more than 10 national college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training projects, completed 12 collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education in China, 9 teaching and research projects above the provincial level, guided students to win more than 40 provincial and national competition awards, and more than 20 provincial college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training projects have been approved.
