The School of Science has 6 institutions, namely, Mathematics Teaching Department, Physics Teaching Department, University Physics Basic Experiment Teaching Center, Chemistry Department, Chemistry Experiment Teaching Center, and College Students’ Innovation and Practice Center, which undertake the teaching of public basic courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and the training of applied chemistry talents.
The School currently has 78 faculty and staff, including 11 Professors, 28 Associate Professors and 4 Senior Experimenters; 33 teachers have doctoral degrees.
The School has constructed University Physics Virtual Simulation Laboratory and Applied Chemistry Virtual Simulation Laboratory, and has established industry-university-research cooperation with many enterprises and institutions and scientific research institutions, such as Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin University, Changchun Institute of Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which lays a solid foundation for the training of applied talents.
Teachers of the School provide guidance to students to win the national bronze award of the 4th “Internet+” College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; The third prize of the 12th iCAN International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; It has won the national award of National Undergraduate Mathematical Modeling Competition and the first, second and third prizes in Jilin competition area for many times.
Currently, the School has 2 school level key construction disciplines, and teachers undertake more than 70 teaching and scientific research projects such as the National Nature Fund, the Science and Technology Department of Jilin Province, and the Education Department of Jilin Province. In recent years, it has published more than 200 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 60 papers included in SCI; 16 authorized patents, including 4 invention patents; 6 university textbooks and 4 academic monographs have been compiled and published.
At present, the average postgraduate entrance examination rate of Applied Chemistry Majors in the School is over 10%, and the employment rate of graduates in recent three years is over 90%.
