CIT Approves as a Joint Fund Project of the National Natural Science Foundation

2024/04/17

Recently, led by the Northeast Institute of Geography and AgroEcology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CIT, as a cooperative unit, applied for the National Natural Science Foundation for Regional Innovation and Development Joint Fund "Water environment evolution mechanism and improvement strategy of typical lake and reservoir watershed in black soil Area" was approved.

The head of CIT in charge of this project is Dr. Guangyi Mu, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, College of Water Conservancy and Environmental Engineering. Mainly responsible for studying the quantitative inversion of colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in typical lake and reservoir water in black soil area, analyzing the spatio-temporal characteristics of water CDOM, particulate matter absorption and carbon system parameters through the response mechanism of inherent and apparent optical quantity of water in black soil area, and developing the high-precision inversion method of CDOM in lake and reservoir water environment by combining the optimal time-space-spectrum stereo observation system. Combined with hydrological data and hydrodynamic model, the fluxes of key parameters of water environment were estimated, and then the analysis of inter-annual/intra-annual evolution characteristics of CDOM of lake and reservoir water environment was realized.

The implementation of this project can accurately quantify the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of the water environment in the black soil area, and reveal the driving mechanism of soil erosion and agricultural non-point source pollution on the evolution of the water environment in typical lakes and reservoirs, which is a frontier scientific problem to be solved urgently, and has important scientific significance and practical value for national food security and regional ecological security.
