In order to deepen the reform of undergraduate education and teaching, meet the diversified and personalized development needs of students, to cultivate compound and innovative talents,CIT opened a micro-major of “Digital Construction” recently. The first “Digital Construction” micro major has 54 students enrolled.

Micro-major is a set of core courses based on the needs of talents for economic and social development. In addition to the main major education, micro-major is refined and offered around a specific professional field, research direction or core accomplishment by focusing on the needs of new technologies, new industries, new formats and new models. Micro-major has two basic functions. One is to fulfill the expansion and extension of the main major, and the other is to realize composite and cross disciplinary integration with other majors. Compared with traditional majors, the teaching of micro majors is more refined.
Micro- major Teaching Practice
The “Digital Construction” micro-major meets the needs of digital China strategy . On the basis of in-depth mastery of major professional knowledge, it aims to cultivate a high sense of social responsibility and engineering professional ethics, keep up with the informational and digital development in the construction industry, possess basic knowledge of digital construction, and hold the ability to use professional knowledge, skills and literacy of digital construction to solve professional problems in the field of digital construction related to the major subjects, and trains compound talents with Lifelong learning and innovation ability.
The “Digital Construction” micro professional class adopts a blended online and offline teaching approach. In this semester, Gan Rongfei, deputy general manager of Jilin Installation Group Co., LTD., and Zhou Xuelei, senior engineer and manager of Technical Quality Department of Changchun Construction Group Co., LTD., and other corporate teachers were hired to teach, and the mode of enterprise senior engineer “coming in” was adopted. Through three semesters of study, students will fully understand the “cross-type” new technology developed in the construction industry, and be competent in the construction industry’s “composite” digital building design, smart city comprehensive management, smart construction, building robot planning, green building design, whole process project consulting management, building energy conservation data operation and maintenance, etc. Have the ability to adapt to the transformation, upgrading and development of the industry and occupational requirements.
The “Digital Construction” micro-major is the first micro-major of CIT, which opens the multi-talent training mode of “major + minor + micro-major”. Following the education and teaching philosophy of “student-centered, output-oriented and continuous improvement”, the school will open more “micro-majors”, involving multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, art and literature, and fully open a new mode of multi-talent training.
