About CIT
Founded in 1951, Changchun Institute of Technology (CIT) is an accredited multi-disciplinary university with engineering as its core. CIT is affiliated with the People's Government of Jilin Province.
CIT was formerly known as Changchun Architectural Advanced Vocational School, Changchun Technology Advanced Vocational School, and Changchun Water Conservancy & Electric Power College. For nearly 50 years these three schools were associated with the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, the Metallurgical Industrial Ministry, and the Water Conservancy Ministry. At the beginning of 2000 – with the approval of the Ministry of Education – the three colleges merged to form Changchun Institute of Technology.
In the past 20 years, CIT has been awarded the following important honors: A Characteristic High-level Application-oriented University of Jilin Province (Level A); TheCo-construction University by the People’s Government of Jilin Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People’s Republic of China; A university implemented by the Ministry ofEducation’s“Outstanding Engineers EducationTrainingPlan”; A pilotuniversityfor“Talents’ Cultivation Project of Serving the Special Needs of the Country” to enroll postgraduates; A pilotuniversityfor“CDIO Engineering Education Reform”; The“NewEngineering” comprehensive reform project implementation university; The“EU Erasmus+ Inspire Project–Internationalisation of masterprogram” implementation university; The DemonstrationalUniversity for Transitional Development of Jilin Province.
CIT mainly focuses on undergraduate programs, but also offers postgraduate and higher vocational programs. At present, CIT covers 5 disciplines categories including Engineering, Management, Science, Art and Literature; 16 cultivationdirections for postgraduates; 6 provincial characteristic high-level disciplines. There are 19 teaching schools (departments) with 59 undergraduate majors and 45 undergraduate enrollment majors. CIT is equipped with 3 national first-class undergraduate construction sites and13 provincial first-class undergraduate construction sites; 1 national pilotmajor of comprehensive reform of local colleges; 8national and provincial characteristicmajors; 9 majorsthathave passed the certification of thenational engineering educationmajors; 7 national and provincial“Outstanding Engineers EducationTrainingPlan”implementationmajors; 2 national CDIO pilotmajors; 8 provincial characteristic high-level majors; 5 provincial brand majors and 7 provincial innovation experimental zones fortalents’ cultivation. CIT has a total enrollment of 16,000 full-time students.
There are 1,300 faculty members in the Institute, including 987 full-time teachers, 143 faculty members with senior technical titles, 395 with associate senior technical titles, and 280 teachers with doctoral degrees. 87.54% of the full-time teachers have master degrees or above. One person was selected into the New Century Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education, 14 were rated as young and middle-aged professional and technical talents with outstanding contributions in Jilin Province, four were rated as senior experts of Jilin Province, 22 were rated as the top innovative talents of Jilin Province, two were rated as leading professors of universities in Jilin Province, six were rated as the Spring Seedling talents of Jilin Province, three were rated as "Changbai Mountain Skilled Teachers" of Jilin Province, six were rated as provincial-level teaching masters, seven were rated as talents of the New Century in Jilin Province, one was rated as National Excellent Teacher, 19 received the Excellent Teacher Award from the Baosteel Education Fund, nine teaching teams were rated as Jilin Province Excellent Teaching Teams, and 12 people received the special allowances from the State Council.
CIT’s two campuses cover a total area of 458,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 1.031 billion yuan, including 404 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment. The library has 1.68 million Chinese and foreign paper books and2.62 million e-books.
CIT has cultivated international exchange and continued cooperation with more than 30 institutions of higher education, focusing on further academic excellence, mutual exchange of guest lecturers, as well as student exchange, including University of the West of Scotland in the UK, Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI) in Russia, New Mexico State University in the United States. CIT is also proud to cooperate with Russian Kazan State Technical University, University of L'Aquila, Universite de Technologie de Belfort-Montbeliard, Jade Hochschule, Yunan Digital University, Komsomolsk-on-Amur State Technical University, Chaoyang University of Technology and the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology. In the past three years, over 100 CIT teachers have attended training modules in the USA, Japan, Russia, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. Over the years, CIT has organized students to participate in summer camp of cooperative colleges and universities in Russia and the UK. As a coordinating university in China, CIT participated in the EU’s Programme Erasmus+, cooperating with 10 universities in France, Italy, Germany, and Russia.
