The P.E. Teaching and Research Department has 30 faculty members, including 4 Professors and 15 Associate Professors. There are 7 institutions, including the First Teaching Department, the Second Teaching Department, the Third Teaching Department, the Military Teaching Department, the Venue Management Center, the Physical Fitness Testing Center for College Students, and the High-level Sports Team Training Department.
The P.E. Teaching and Research Department has rich venue resources, including 1 gymnasium, 3 track and field venues, 3 fitness rooms, 17 outdoor basketball venues, 15 outdoor volleyball venues, 4 football venues, 18 outdoor badminton venues, 6 outdoor tennis venues, and 1 table tennis room.
The P.E. Teaching and Research Department actively advocates the curriculum construction and seriously implements the physical education teaching plan. According to the characteristics of the whole college students, it has opened(set up) 13 sports elective courses (Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Table tennis, Aerobics, Tai Chi, Badminton, Taekwondo, Tennis, etc). It has set up sports sub clubs, and held sports culture weeks, sports culture festivals, basketball leagues, volleyball leagues, football leagues, softball leagues and other events jointly operated with relevant departments, so as to create a sports culture atmosphere among the teachers and students of CIT, enriching the cultural life of students and teachers in their spare time, and improving their physical quality of CIT.
The P.E. Teaching and Research Department has continuously cultivated and improved teachers’ sports scientific research ability. 11 textbooks and tutorials have been published, 34 vertical scientific research projects, 2 horizontal scientific research projects, as well as 1 intellectual property (copyright) have been permitted with 200 papers at the provincial level and above published.
The P.E. Teaching and Research Department attaches great importance to off-campus sports competitions and sports exchanges. It has won 16 provincial and municipal Champions, 33 Runners-up and 46 Second Runners-up.
The P.E. Teaching and Research Department has 3 National-registered referees are teaching in the P.E. Teaching and Research Department, including 1 national basketball referee, who is in charge of the referee work for “CBA(China Basketball Association)” and “WCBA” leagues; 1 national speed skating referee; 1 national referee for volleyball and gas volleyball. There are 18 national first-class referees, who undertake the referee tasks of International Invitational competitions and domestic large-scale sports competitions. The team enjoy a high reputation and influence in China, working for a favorable foundation of improving the popularity and the development of CIT, as well as the exchanges between CIT and overseas colleges and universities.
