Jilin Laboratory for Oil Shale Drilling and Environmental Protection Engineering was identified as a provincial laboratory by Jilin Development and Reform Commission in 2013 (the 6th batch). The laboratory is affiliated with the School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering at CIT. It has 24 members with 6 core members. It includes ① construction of shale exploration theory and laboratory; ② drilling and production technology of oil shale resources; ③ oil shale resources development and geological environment protection technology; ④ four technical platforms for the construction of experimental base and talent training. Furthermore, it has also carried out research on the flushing medium of oil shale drilling, the test and analysis of oil shale samples and the technical consulting service of exploration, development and evaluation, and has made a series of achievements.
In recent years, the laboratory staff have presided over and undertaken 4 national programs, more than 20 provincial and ministerial programs and more than 30 horizontal scientific research programs, with an average annual amount of scientific research funds of more than 3 million yuan. The laboratory staff won 2 national scientific research awards and 6 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards.
Staff from the Oil Shale Drilling and Environmental Protection Engineering Laboratory of Jilin Province paid a visit to colleges and universities at home and abroad. Every year, the laboratory introduces well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad to deliver lectures and conduct academic exchanges in the laboratory. The Oil Shale Drilling and Environmental Protection Engineering Laboratory of Jilin Province has experimental instruments and equipment such as XRD analyzer, infrared spectrometer, X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, autoclave, engineering drilling rig, UAV and ground penetrating radar, with assets of more than 20 million yuan. The area of oil shale engineering laboratory and experimental field is more than 10000 ㎡.
The laboratory is a member unit of Oil Shale Alliance of Jilin Province and a vice chairman unit of Jilin Geological Society.
